World Vision Ethiopia commenced its operations in 1971 with a focus on relief efforts and officially established its office in 1975. In the years that followed, the organization implemented a range of relief, rehabilitation, and small-scale community development projects. During the 1984/85 drought, World Vision Ethiopia played a critical role in a large-scale relief operation, saving the lives of millions.

Position 1: MEAL Lead, Rapid Response Mechanism

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience with international NGOs in humanitarian and development programs, particularly in consortium-based approaches, MEAL, program development, and quality management roles.
  • Practical expertise in designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating anticipatory humanitarian and climate action initiatives, DRM concepts, and localization agendas.
  • Advanced skills in developing MEAL systems, employing both quantitative and qualitative monitoring techniques, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary trends in MEAL, including innovative monitoring and evaluation practices.
  • Experience in incorporating gender, disability, and environmental considerations into development, advocacy, or humanitarian projects.
  • Proven ability to coordinate MEAL activities within a consortium framework and implement effective knowledge management practices.
  • Familiarity with international standards and frameworks, including the Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS), SPHERE, LEGS, and safeguarding protocols.
  • Strong understanding of WASH, ES/NFI, health and nutrition, education in emergencies, multi-purpose cash transfer, and protection programming in IDP and returnee responses.
  • Expertise in nexus programming that integrates humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding approaches.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing accountability mechanisms.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in time management, prioritization, and organizational tasks.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to change management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • MA in Social Sciences, including Development Studies, Monitoring and Evaluation, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.

Position 2: TSFP Facilitator

Required Education, Training, and Certification:

  • BSc in Public Health, Clinical Nursing, Nutrition, Environmental Health, Midwifery, or related fields from an accredited institution.
  • Certification in the 2019 revised guidelines for Acute Malnutrition and IMAM.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in managing TSFP/BSFP and SAM programs.
  • Skills in planning, implementing, and monitoring CMAM programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to work under pressure and adapt to challenging conditions.
  • Commitment to World Vision’s values, with a strong sense of integrity and cultural sensitivity.

Required Professional Experience:

  • At least three years of experience in TSFP/BSFP programs, particularly in emergency contexts.
  • Practical knowledge of food aid programs and CMAM protocols.
  • Experience in conducting training and workshops.

Language Requirement:

  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.

Position 3: Child Protection in Emergency Specialist

Required Professional Experience:

  • Five years of experience designing and implementing child protection programs in emergency and post-emergency contexts.
  • Extensive background in capacity building and training for staff, stakeholders, and community members.
  • Familiarity with international technical guidelines such as the UN Inter-Agency Guidelines on Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (CPHA) and Child Protection Minimum Standards.
  • Hands-on experience with prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse, and GBV prevention and response initiatives.
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills within the child protection sector.

Required Education, Training, and Certification:

  • Master’s degree in Law, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or related fields.
  • Certification in child protection-related programs and practical experience in case management with children and adolescents.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Expertise in community-based child protection program design and execution.
  • Familiarity with core project models related to child protection in emergencies.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a culturally diverse team environment.
