Job title 1: Production Manager for Supplementary Food Unit

Job Description

  • Plans, organizes, coordinates and supervises the activities of supplementary food unit production.
  • Direct and control the staff of the unit to ensure that they are appropriately trained and motivated and carry out their responsibilities to the required standards.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets to ensure that the optimum use is made of production resources.
  • Receives supplementary food processing work orders and executes them efficiently.
  • Prepares long, medium and short term operation plans of the production operations of the company and ensures their implementation upon approval.
  • Estimates quantities of raw materials and inputs, utilities, manpower, equipment and accessories and time required for the supplementary food production processes.
  • Ensures that the inputs are made available in the required quantity and quality specification at the required time.
  • Ensures that materials, equipment and human resources are properly and effectively utilized with in supplementary food unit.
  • Monitors closely the work progress and takes corrective measures in case of shortfalls or delays.
  • Ensures the smooth and coherent flow of all the supplementary food production processes and that all operations are performed in accordance with set process parameters and quality specifications.
  • Inspects the quality of input materials, processes, intermediate and final products and takes corrective actions in case of deviations from set standards and specifications.
  • Ensures that samples for laboratory tests and quality inspections are properly taken.
  • Ensures safety (Including proper wearing of PPE for himself & workers) , hygiene, environment and waste disposal in general IMS regulations are strictly observed & followed.
  • Ensures that machinery and equipment are properly maintained, always kept clean and hygienic and confirms that they are in good and safe operational conditions.
  • Participate in the implementation and updating of the company’s Food safety management system & IMS activities.
  • Maintains good working relationships and coordination within the Department.
  • Prepares and submits periodical performance reports.
  • When there is change of shift, will check that proper hand over is made without production interruption. And during lunch time will follow & check that there is no production stoppage or interruption.
  • If required will participate in different food unit activities.
  • Every time will check whether machines are getting the proper maintenance & are ready for production.
  • When there is no production & workers are idle plan & check its execution   to effectively utilize workers by giving different work activities like routine machine inspection/maintenance may be with assigned technic person, cleaning machines. Floors, walls, the compound around the plant, giving training etc.
  • Assure in advance that all the operation is progressing as per quality requirements & product is also will be as per the standard.
  • Keeps attendance and evaluates the performance of subordinates.
  • Ensures that all problems related to food safety management system & IMS is reported to immediate supervisor and Quality personnel.
  • If required will prepare different operation records, procedures & SOPs for the general operation of the unit. Checks that all the required record formats & related documents are prepared & filled every time as per the frequency/program.
  • Performs any other tasks as required.

Job Requirements

Competencies (Skills& abilities)

  • Strong leadership skills
  • Team player at executive levels to collaborate with business units and functional partners.
  • Experience in discounting operations (like Cash and Carry) and/or retail
  • Experience in Food manufacturing processes and procedures is crucial.
  • Ability to clearly and accurately report to Directors, the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Great communication and presentation skills and Problem-solving mindset.
  • Understanding of business functions such as finance, procurement, marketing etc.

Qualification and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science & Post Harvest Technology , Food  and Technology ,Food Science & Nutrition  or Food Engineering, or related fields with six years (6) years of demonstrated experience out of which two (2) years proven experience working in similar managerial position in food processing/beverage industries.

Job title 2: Production Coordinator for Food Unit

Job Description

  • Plans, organizes, co-ordinates, and directs the production functions of the company in line with the general policies, procedures and values of the company.
  • Schedule and coordinate flow of work within or between departments of manufacturing plant to expedite production.
  • Ensures the design, implementation and maintenance of appropriate systems and procedures to ensure efficient and smooth production flow;
  • Ensures that the raw materials, inputs, equipment and manpower needed for the targeted production are made available at the required time, quality, quantity and least cost;
  • Ensures that the production is carried out in the required and specified quality and quantity, and within set timeframe and at minimum cost;
  • Checks that all the operation machines are operated properly, operators have the skill & capacity for each machine & every operators are keeping the hygiene of the machine, working areas before & after operation.
  • Develops and maintains conducive working environment for production;
  • Maintains good working relationships and coordination within the Department and with other departments of the company.
  • With the help of immediate supervisor/Manger will prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual report.
  • Ensures that machinery and equipment are properly maintained, always kept clean and hygienic and confirms that they are in good and safe operational conditions.
  • When there is no production effectively utilize workers by giving different work activities like routine machine inspection/maintenance may be with assigned technic person, cleaning machines. Floors, walls, the compound around the plant, coordinate for training etc.
  • Checks that all the required record formats are prepared & filled every time as per the frequency/program  & monitor that each operations are working based on the standard requirement & giving quality products.
  • When there is change of shift will check that proper hand over is made without production interruption. And during lunch time follow that there is no production stoppage and interruption..
  • Supervises and coordinates the day to day activities of the operation under the Department.
  • Ensures that the unit is properly organized and staffed to effectively perform its various functions.
  • Develops and maintains conducive working environment for production;
  • Handle coaching, mentoring and performance review of the team.
  • Maintains good working relationships and coordination within the Department and with other departments of the company.

  • Monitor raw material and packing material at production floor.

Job Requirements

  • Qualification: College Diploma/TVET Min Level IV graduates in Information Technology from known TVET College, Accounting

  • Control or monitor wastage of packing material and end products
  • Control both quantity and quality of product based on the set of standard
  • Manage the employees under supervision of him or her
  • Assists in monitoring all operation.
  • Assists in monitoring packing component availability.
  • Reports to the immediate supervisory any problem that has been encountered.
  • Keeps the machine & its surrounding clean.
  • Maintenance and repair of machinery
