Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) is a national organization mandated to manage, build research capacity, and promote and strengthen public health research activities in the country. The institute is also mandated to nationwide comprehensive health related data synthesis of evidence that public health related decision-makings rely on. Currently, EPHI in collaboration with FMOH is planning to conduct a study to assess and characterize HIV-associated mortality among PLHIV in care and document the progress in the national responses to epidemic control in Ethiopia. Currently, EPHI in collaboration with FMOH is planning to conduct the HIV/AIDS Mortality in Ethiopia.
As part of implementing the study, the EPHI would like to announce a vacancy for competent and interested individuals for the following posts. The qualified individual will be functioning in collaboration with a member of the HIV survey team.
The intended candidates should have the following qualifications and experiences:
1.Survey Coordinator
Job Requirements
· MPH/MSc in the fields of Public Health, and having of 5+ years demonstrated experiences in designing and executing qualitative and quantitative study and analyzing qualitative data, technical report and manuscript writing
· Conceptualize and manage a nationally representative multisite complex survey
· Carry out key survey activities such as coordinating, coaching and supervising field team, ensuring the quality of data, conduct data cleaning, and interpreting and reporting of findings
· Maintain and monitor the data collection process and adjust the system to operational activities’ needs with continued support
· Conduct direct supervision to the field staff at site level
· Oversee daily site activities and sure that the study is conducted as the protocol guidelines
· Prepare weekly report and update the project progress to central office at EPHI
· Work with the site supervisor/coupon manager to ensure safety of the data stored in the electronic coupon tracking system, as well as exported to backup flash drive.
· Forward data stored in the electronic coupon tracking system to the data manager in the head office weekly
· Conduct data management and transmission
· Manage stocks at site level and order materials to be purchased or delivered from central (EPHI):
Duties and responsibilities
- Develop and oversee the implementation of a nationally representative multisite complex survey.
- Execute key survey activities, including coordinating, coaching, and supervising field teams, ensuring data quality, conducting data cleaning, and interpreting/reporting findings.
- Maintain and monitor the data collection process, making necessary adjustments to align with operational needs, providing ongoing support.
- Directly supervise field staff at the site level, ensuring adherence to protocol guidelines during daily activities.
- Oversee daily site operations, ensuring compliance with study protocols.
- Prepare weekly reports and communicate project progress to the central office at EPHI..
- Follow data management processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency in data transmission.
2.Survey Data collector
Job Requirements
· Possess a BSc degree or higher in health sciences (nursing, midwifery, public health, medical laboratory) with a minimum of 4 years.
· Prior experience in HIV surveys or surveys related to the field is considered an asset.
· Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Exhibit experience and training in HIV testing and counseling, and work in ART department.
· Have expertise and training in both quantitative and qualitative data collection methodologies.
· Willingness and ability to travel to various parts of the country as required by assigned sites.
· Possess excellent skills in data organization, programming, and communication, coupled with the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
Duties and responsibilities
· Execute essential survey activities, including coordination, ensuring data quality, conducting data cleaning, and interpreting and reporting findings.
· Maintain and monitor the data collection process, making adjustments to the system to align with operational needs while providing ongoing support.
· Conduct data collection from the designated health facilities.

3.Survey supervisor

Required skill
- Demonstrated experience in providing training on the quanitative research method

- Profound knowledge and experience in conducting Bio-behavioral survey including, development of the survey tools, training research staff, supervising, writing analytical reports as well as interpreting data and making recommendations;
- Experience in the area of HIV Key/priority population survey, and/or programmatic response
· Prior experience in coordinating a study using respondent driven sampling technique among AGYW and/or FSWs

4.HIV counselor and Interviewer
Job Requirements
Duties and responsibilities
HIV Counselor is responsible for a professional in providing essential counseling services to the participants of HIV/AIDS bio behavioral survey among highly vulnerable population in Ethiopia. She/he must be good at providing advice, aware, inform people and help them to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS infection.
· Obtain informed consent from eligible study participants
· Conduct interview or oversee the interview process(if using self-interview)
· Ensure that information collected is securely saved and/or stored after the interview
· Assist in the collection, processing and storage of biologic specimens
· Provide pre-and post-test HIV counseling based on testing guideline
· Complete relevant forms and processes
Required skill
· Experience in HIV bio behavioral survey and or surveys involving Venus blood drawing, storage and processing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience and training in the area of HIV testing and counseling, ART and ANC
- Experience and training in quantitative and qualitative data collection
· Certified training on HIV testing and counseling (HCT) and familiar with national HCT& ART guideline
Required educational Qualification

5.Coupon manager
Job Requirements
· Manage the coupon-tracking system
· Explain the aim of survey to participant; conduct and record consent
· Provide instructions/train on peer recruitment and issue referral coupons
·Ask screening questions to the target population to identify eligible participant and disqualify imposters
· Establish a unique identifier to link recruit’s follow-up visit to initial visit
· Work as the receptionist or interviewer as needed – Eligibility questions
- Maintain the database for data entry, editing, and analysis for electronic-based data collection
- Work closely with data management team and survey staffs
Required skill
· Experience in data, cleaning, preparation and management
· Have prior experience on respondent driven sampling (RDS) coupon management
- Excellent data organization, programming, and communication skills are required, as is the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
· Proficient knowledge of database software (particularly excel and access)

6.Quantitative Data analysis assistant
Location: Addis Ababa, Oromia, Amhara and Somali
Job Requirements
· At least MSC in Biostatistics/Statistics/ Public Health/ Epidemiology
· 6 years of Experience in the Health Sector or Research areas
· Demonstrable analytical experience using DHS or SPA or SARA survey data
· Demonstrable experience in Using STATA/SPSS
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Work with multiple epidemiologic and community-based data systems and platforms to harmonize data, and support the analysis and synthesis of data from various sources.
· Facilitate and mapping, centralizing, digitizing, manage and analyze existing and new data sources in the country for the reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health.
- Produce relevant findings using systematic reviews, in-depth analysis on reproductive, maternal, child and newborn health related studies etc.
· Prepare plan and report the performance in a weekly basis.
· Work closely with research institutes, academia and the health sector, local and international collaborators, with the Countdown to 2030 technical working group to ensure methodological advances on data analysis and synthesis of scientific evidence to inform health sector, programmers or policy makers.
· Planning, draft outline, writing scientific manuscripts, technical reports, evidence briefs, as needed.

PREFERABLE SKILLS
· At least three peer-reviewed publications in Reproductive, Maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health as corresponding author or first author;
· Demonstrated proficiency in a range of data management and statistical software (e.g. SPSS, STATA,) (experience in DHS, DHIS2 or health facility (SARA/SPA/ data analysis is preferred,
- Familiar with existing health policies and strategies of the country and ability to identify research priority of the health sector;

7.Laboratory technologist
Required Number —-27 (Addis Ababa (4), Tigray (2), Central Ethiopia (1), Sidama (1), Oromia (4), Gambella(2), Harari (2), Dire Dawa (2), Somalia (1), Amhara (4), Afar(2), south-west Ethiopia(1), and Benishangulu gumuz(1) )

Job Requirements
· Collect biologic specimens, process for storage
· Conduct on-site testing as specified in protocol
· Process specimens for transportation
· Transport specimens for permanent storage
· Complete relevant forms and proper archival
· Meet/communicate with supervisor daily to update collected sample, information and challenges faced during sample collection.
·Track inventory of medical and lab supplies; maintain tracking and management of sample flow
· Establish mobile laboratory facility
· Implement lab quality control and quality assurance measures
