Kurmuk Gold Mine Plc (KGM) is a subsidiary of Allied Gold Corp which is a global company with offices in Dubai, UAE and Perth, Australia and has different mine projects in Mali, cote d’ivoire as well as Ethiopia. KGM is the Ethiopian project with a Large-Scale Gold Mining License and three contiguous Exploration Licenses. All licenses are located in western Ethiopia approximately 750 km from Addis Ababa, or about 90 km north-west of Assosa town in Benishangul Gumuze Regional State.

KGM has been using foreign consultants and local professional support staff to carry out all the exploration and mining activities. The company currently has created job opportunity for more than 200 Ethiopians and expects to employ 1,500 people during the construction and operation of the mining activities.

Senior Laboratory Technician (Construction)

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Inspection of earth work activity as per design data and working drawing, material production and contractor’s workmanship and working methodology to keep the quality of work
  • Sampling and testing construction materials such as sub base, base course, and concrete, aggregate…
  • Strictly following and minimizing the environmental impact of the project
  • planning, setting up and undertaking controlled experiments and trials

Recording and analyzing data

  • Undertake overall management of material lab testing to Construction Work packages
  • Provide practices for material testing; assist with test formats, procedures of quality control tests required by the project
  • Will be responsible to verify and approve the quality control test reports.
  • Will be responsible to verify and approve material test certificates
  • Provide technical backstopping on designs, technical standards and specifications
  • Undertake test check of construction material samples.
  • Specify and monitor quality assurance plans and quality control tests being conducted in all packages.
  • Should be familiar with all tests (Sieve Analysis (Fine and Course), Liquid Limit/Plastic Limit, Proctor Test, CBR, Field density, Slump Test, Compression test, Specific gravity and water absorption, Marshall test, Tensile strength test, Mix designs and trial mixes and asphalt tests.
  • Work in close coordination with QA/QC, Work Inspector Engineers

General

Work Experience: 7 year of general experience and 5 year of specific experience in the same position or relate; Road projects experience is advantages

Job Requirements

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or Other related fields
  • Knowledge of construction/soil/water engineering principles, practices and methods, environmental regulations, workplace safety and personnel management;

Clinical Laboratory Technician

 Main duties and responsibilities

  • Collecting, receiving, labelling, and/or analysing samples or substances using the correct testing equipment, when necessary
  • Proficient in the laboratory diagnosis of tropical and other illnesses prevalent in the region
  • Explaining test procedures to patients
  • Designing and executing laboratory testing in line with standard testing procedures, recording observations, and interpreting findings.
  • Cleaning, sterilizing, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment.
  • Ordering laboratory supplies, as needed.
  • Providing technical support, when necessary.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.
  • Calibrating equipment, developing standard operating procedures and determining correct reference ranges for tests.
  • Using automated equipment and computerized lab instruments to perform several tests simultaneously.
  • Keeping accurate records of laboratory tests and results, and submitting statistical reports to supervisors.
  • Participating in training/refresher trainings

Job Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Diploma/ Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, with valid license to work as Laboratory Technician in Ethiopia is required.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant working experience in busy laboratory/medical institutions, International Organizations or NGOs dealing with refugees.
  • Valid laboratory technician license.
  • Proven experience working as a lab technician.
  • Working experience operating electrical and non-electrical laboratory equipment.
  • Comfortable handling potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, biohazards, etc.)
  • In depth knowledge of QHSE management systems, preventative measures, and laboratory best practices.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and database systems.
  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
  • Excellent skill in writing and speaking of English and Amharic languages
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Analytical skills.

 General

Office Manager
