The Opportunity:

The post holder is responsible for the deliveries of results in line with pre-agreed program planes and objectives and oversee the implementation of the child protection policy in the PA and contribute towards achieving the country program goal of improved protection mechanisms and community practices against harmful traditional practices and violence against children. Plan International Ethiopia has put in place a child protection policy that all of its staff must adhere to and sign.

 Dimension of the position:

The purpose of this position is to lead implementation of the child protection policy and program at the PA and/or IDP/Host community. It also is intended to ensure to support and linkages to the HTP and other country emergency response programs

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
  • Ensures that the team members under supervision are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;

Job Requirements

The Individual:

Technical expertise, skills and knowledge

Qualifications/ experience essential:

  • BA degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology Child Development and other related fields.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in INGO environment, involving in both emergency and development programs
  • Excellent knowledge of Child Protection minimum standards and basic principles
  •  Good knowledge of Child Protection case management
  • Excellent knowledge of basic child protection and youth principles and child & adult development and learning
  • Good knowledge of donor grants and contract regulations.

Qualifications / experience desirable:

  • Ability to deliver quality programs in a desirable time and work under stressful conditions.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication skills in English and Amharic.
  • Computer literate.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Languages required

2.CMAM Assistant

The Opportunity:

 The CMAM Assistant is responsible for implementation of all CMAM related activities including TSFP, IYCF-E at local level using participatory and community based or outreach approaches. S/he is also expected to provide technical support Woreda Health extension Workers and other staff working in the area of under-five nutrition. S/he is also responsible for collecting child Health Data including growth monitoring and sharing for appropriate health expert for case identification based on the biometric information.

    Qualifications/Experience Essential:

  • Diploma or Level IV in clinical Nursing, Midwifery and Human nutrition from a recognized nurse-training institute.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • Previous NGO experience is an Asset.

Qualifications/ experience desirable:

  • Profound experience in Maternal and Child Health service provision government health system.
  • Experience and/or strong professional links with work in this field in other countries
  • Specialist expertise in either Inclusion or Social and gender norm change
  • Knowledge of full CMAM and IYCF-E will be an added advantage.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Plan policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of international standards notably SPHERE and the Red Cross/ NGO Code of Conduct
  • Knowledge of the area and region where the post is located

4.Nutrition Project Manager

Job Requirements

The Individual:

 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications/ experience essential:

  • MSc/BSc in Nutrition, Public Health and other related fields is required with a minimum of 7 years working experience preferably in NGO setting.
  • Good managerial experience, including managing budgets and teams
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including in influencing and advocacy
  • Well recognized behavioural skills to engage with stakeholders and partners
  • Deep understanding and knowledge in managing emergency response projects/programmes

 Qualifications and experience desirable

  • Equipped with sufficient level of awareness on : Early warning concepts; Disaster risk management practice and knowhow on; Health/Nutrition; food security framework; good understanding of national government policies.
  • Knowledge of Plan policies and procedures, Sphere and the Red Cross/ NGO Code of Conduct
  • Knowledge of child rights programming
  • Good knowledge of field level realities of humanitarian NGOs work;
  • Hands on experience on Health and Nutrition Projects Management;  
  • Knowledge of FSL, WASH, DRR, CTP, EWS, DRR and DCM;
  • Good understanding of the external operating environment including government policies, strategies, guidelines and operating procedures in managing emergencies and disasters in the country especially in Tigray Region
  • Perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions and requirements.
