Senior System Administrator

Premier Switch Solutions S.C. (PSS) is a leading Electronic Payment Processing Company, established by major private banks of Ethiopia. The Company has implemented the first multi-institution shared-switch infrastructure to provide its member banks with state-of-the-art payment technology to drive ATM, POS, e-commerce, Mobile Banking and other payment channels and provide clearing of Debit/Credit card transactions for the banks.

Currently, PSS has one vacant position stated below and would like to invite applicants who meet the qualifications and required experience listed for this job opening.

Description of Duties

  • Involvement in the implementation of the strategic direction of the IT infrastructure, and environment system administration.
  • Manage the implementation of the IT policy, procedures and documents.
  • Perform the design, setup, installation, integration and operation of the system to meet the business requirements.
  • Manage all servers, backup devices, operating systems and environmental systems are installed, configured and always functioning optimally.
  • Manage and monitor all servers and storage
  • Perform corrective and periodic preventive maintenance of system equipment.
  • Perform cleaning and dust removal of the servers and storage
  • Work with vendors and monitor all system infrastructure support activities.
  • Manage the delivery of systems and other projects.
  • Conduct periodic system infrastructure performance metrics.
  • Involvement in the design of system capacity planning and building business continuity.
  • Involvement in the execution of upgrades and migration of system infrastructures.
  • Manage high availability, confidentiality, integrity and reliability of system infrastructure.
  • Provide support services to users within established SLAs;
  • Work with all relevant IT and other work units in the group.
  • Involve in research of system technologies and standards like servers and storage
  • Build a knowledge base from the lessons learned.
  • Provide training, coaching and mentoring of employees within the department toward effective career development.
  • Prepare periodic reports.
  • Attend incidents, interruptions, malfunctions, and system quality reductions at any moment
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

Qualification & Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, ICT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience.
  • Training in Linux and Solaris, Storage management and web technologies is preferable
  • Experience in managing and administering servers and storage systems is preferable.
