Company Description

Tinaw Business Share Company [Tinaw Roses]  was established in 2006, with the major objective of engaging in various business portfolios in a phase by phase basis with the initial focus on the Floriculture sector. The Company’s head quarter is located in Addis Ababa. The farms are located in Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Regional State, Guraghe Zone, Ezha Wereda, 175 kms South West of Addis Ababa, at an altitude of 1970 meters above sea level. Presently, the Company grows over 20 different varieties of rose flower on 32 hectares of greenhouse coverage and exports to the international market. Furthermore, an expansion project is underway to double the production area in the coming three years.

Human Resources & Organizational Development Manager

Job Purpose:

The job position has multiple purposes: (a) to managing the company’s human resources in a cost effective manner, (b) to manage and facilitate whole gamut of organizational development related issues, (c) to coordinate the management of project nature activities at the farm site, (d) to support  the farm operations team in HR and Admin related activities

Duties and Responsibilities

For the realization of the aforementioned job purposes, the duties and responsibilities of the person assigned as HR and Organizational Development Manager include, but not limited to, the following.

HR Related

·          Evaluate the company’s strategic and operational plans relating to HR and come up with proposals for improvement and assist in implementation.

·         Undertake assessment of the company’s organizational structures, job designs and salary structures and come up with proposals for improvement.

·          Continuously conduct assessment of the Company’s employees’ recruitment, selection, hiring, promotion, succession plans, development and termination policies and procedures, and recommend ways for improvement.

·         Support the Farm HR and Admin in managing employees’ relations in accordance with the human resources and administrative policies and labor law of the land.

·         Assist in developing and monitoring the overall human resource management strategies, systems and procedures.

·          Ensure healthy and commendable performance of the human resource function through regular assessment, staff coaching, etc.

Organizational Development Related  

·         Develop and execute the delivery of organizational change management support process relevant to the achievement of company goals and objectives and corporate strategies.

·         Coordinate and facilitate the design, planning, and implementation of corporate level organizational development programs, policies, and procedures.

·         Conduct assessments on strategic and operational issues with a view to identifying gaps and adapting to new developments.

·         Assist in developing leadership techniques, systems and approaches with a view to managing changes within the organization.

·         Evaluate the systems put in place vis-a-vis the goals by conducting external and internal assessment.  

·         Evaluate the approaches and the business processes the company follow and evaluate their effectiveness vis-à-vis the goals and results.

·         Oversee and ensure that the working environment is conducive to motivate and retain employees.

·         Develop, design, and implement various need based capacity development programs

·         Analyze business structures, develop strategies, prepare reports, and suggest a change-management plan as necessary.

·         Implement and oversee programs that increase efficiency, strengthen employee knowledge and abilities with a view to improving the overall performance of the companies. 

 Administrative tasks:  Cross-cutting issues

·         Ensure that the company’s resources allocation such as money, materials, machines and people is fair and   utilized optimally in respective areas of responsibilities.

·         Be conversant of insurance policy management, and ensure that it is properly managed.

·         Oversee the cost effectiveness and properness of working hours, overtime, leave, suspension and termination managements

·         Assume responsibility for preparing periodic reports.

·         Undertake any other activities as per the request of the line manager.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

·         Minimum B.A. in Management, Business Administration, Human Resources or related field, and at least 10 years of relevant experience, out of which 5 years’ working experience in senior managerial level

·         Deep understanding of Ethiopian labor laws, standards and legal requirements

·         Solid experience of working for and leading the HR function in significant organizations

·         Commendable management skills: able to manage and motivate a wide variety of employees from diverse backgrounds in a professional and compelling manner.

·         Self-assured, internally motivated and passionate individual with outstanding communication skills driven to succeed and make a difference.

·         Must possess high levels of integrity, resilience, accountability, commitment and determination.

·         Satisfactory experience in organizational development, coaching, learning and development.

·         Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English and Amharic.

Location : Addis Ababa with frequent travel to the farm site

Operations Manager

Position Overview:

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the farm, ensuring efficient production and distribution of high-quality roses globally. This role requires strong leadership skills, agricultural knowledge and the ability to manage a diverse team effectively. The Operations Manager will collaborate with various stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, government bodies, financial institutions, transport and logistics companies, etc. to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the farm.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Farm Operations:

– Develop and implement strategies to optimize rose production, including planting, irrigation, and plant protection, post-harvest, cool chain and logistics.

– Monitoring and analyzing farming processes to identify areas for improvement and implementing solutions.

– Ensure compliance with environmental and social management standards as per international certifications and local requirements.

– Monitor timely maintenance of farm facilities as per maintenance schedules and within set budget.

– Ensure collaboration with local government institutions and the community.

– Ensure employee health and safety by complying with international standards

– Closely follow up projects with the objective of implementing on schedule and within budget

2. Supply Chain

– Ensure that critical farm inputs such as fertilizers, chemicals, packing materials, farm tools, spare parts, farm machinery, equipment and other necessary materials are supplied in a timely manner at competitive prices.

– Continuously evaluate suppliers and make recommendations for improvement or change as needed.

– Monitor input cost trends and ensure effectiveness in managing various costs

– Work closely with Logistics companies and Airlines

3. Market development and Customer Services

– Monitor market trends and demand patterns to ensure strong market development and diversification

– Monitor customers’ feedback and ensure quality customer services

– Implement quality control measures at critical junctures to ensure consistent supply of high-quality roses.

–  Based on market trends and customer preferences, continuously undertake new variety trials and introduce new varieties accordingly.

 4. Financial Management:

– Develop and manage the annual budget of the company, ensuring cost-effective operations.

– Closely monitor revenues and expense trends, identifying areas for cost reduction or revenue enhancement.

– Ensure quality and regular financial reports for senior management

– Work closely with banks to ensure that the company gets the best financial services available 

Job Requirements

– Masters degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Business Administration, economics, or other related fields.

– Proven experience in managing large scale commercial farms, preferably in the horticulture sector.

– Knowledge of rose cultivation techniques and greenhouse operations management

– Proven leadership and management skills.

– Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities

– Good understanding of financial management principles.

– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience: At least 10 years of progressively relevant managerial working experience in highly reputable organizations.

Location: Addis Ababa with frequent travel to the  farm  site
