Background

The Youth Network for Sustainable Development (YNSD) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization founded in 2003 with the vision of empowering Ethiopian youth to become productive, self-reliant, and healthy agents of sustainable development. Our organization focuses on various program areas such as Youth and Women Empowerment, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Health and HIV/AIDS, and Environment, with a special emphasis on climate change.

Youth Network for Sustainable Development (YNSD) in partnership with Amref Health Africa implements Kefeta in Adama, Bishoftu, and four sub-cities in Addis Ababa. Kefeta envisions Ethiopian youths who are game changers: empowered to advance their own economic, civic, and social development; resilient in the face of shocks; actively promoting development within their communities and contributing to the country’s peace and prosperity. Kefeta will strengthen the youth ecosystem in Ethiopia with integrated, multi-sectoral, youth-centered programming aligned with the Positive Youth Development (PYD) approach. 

Job Summary:

The intern is responsible for working within the program staffs to successfully implement the organization’s and the project’s objectives in the areas of the project in supporting youth coalition; effective planning, organizing, executing and reporting. She /he is exclusively responsible for Leading and executing Youth coalitions activities in each project implementing cities.

Duties and responsibilities

The intern performs the following duties and responsibilities

  • Facilitating the legalization process of youth coalition in the city and Developing manuals, SOPs, and guidance for their legalization process  
  • Supporting youth coalition in developing the annual plan, executing, monitoring, and Reporting plan activities to stakeholders 
  • Oversee planning and implementation of specific activities planned by the youth coalition
  • Ensure coordination and networking with other NGOs and local authorities in targeted areas
  • Supporting city-level youth coalitions in resource mobilization to execute planned youth coalition activities
  • Searching and Applying for grants to execute youth coalition vision and mission
  • Organize and facilitate different meetings, workshops, and discussions, with stakeholders, government, and other implementing partners as needed 
  • Submitting the progress report (Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly) of the youth coalition- to concerned stakeholders
  • Ensure documentation of all Youth coalition activities
  • Prepare and submit timely and quality activity reports, including field notes and success stories, to effectively capture lessons learned on the ground from the projects
  • Undertake other duties as may be assigned by the cluster manager

Required number:  6 (Six), Two in each city

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience: –

  • BA in Project Management, Management, Business Administration and Related field, with a preferable for experience in intern and volunteer service.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong commitment to working with youths
  • Experience working in youth volunteerism
  • Those trained and pass through Kefeta training packages
  • Experience in workshop/training, campaign/events organizing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill in English
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill in Afaan Oromo for Adama and Bishoftu
