Organizational Description:
Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) is a legally registered, autonomous, and not-for-profit professional association established in 1992 and re-registered under the new civil society proclamation. Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) operates in all regions of Ethiopia by using and works for the quality of midwifery education and care. EMwA has been a member of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) since 1993.
The primary goal of EMwA is to contribute towards the reduction of maternal and child mortality and morbidity in Ethiopia, which are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) global initiatives. The vision of the association is to see every woman, newborn, and their family have access to standard midwifery care. The mission of the association is to promote and enhance the expansion, performance and status of midwifery profession through adapting quality and evidence-based practices; adhering to the code of ethics and conduct empowering the professionals.
Position summary:
The Program Assistant reports to the Project Coordinators / Project Managers & MERL manager and is responsible for facilitating Project activities and closely work with program staff at office level. S/he assists in preparation of project/program implementation plans, budgets and carryout proper implementation of the project/program. The Program Assistant facilitate and handles all the logistic and financial matters in related to trainings and /workshops and other program /project activities.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in preparation of project/program implementation plans, budgets and carry out proper implementation of the project/program pertinent to the responsibility
- Provide technical and professional support to program area to ensure quality and appropriateness of project/program intervention as well as ensure its sustainability
- Facilitate different trainings and workshops (facilitate invitation letter, hotel reservation and payments) at office level
- Handling all the logistic and financial matters in related to trainings and /workshops.
- Work with program staffs on a range of tasks aimed at strengthening the program area’s projects/programs.
- Prepare training materials, proceedings, posters, etc. as deemed necessary
- Take responsibility in organizing and updating the necessary information and program of the teaching institutions and the affiliated health facilities
- Be involved in updating the data of midwives, students, teaching institutions and health facilities as needed
- Take a responsibility of the coordination and management of projects/programs
- Cooperate with other project/program and finance staffs in implementing the day to day activities of the project as planned
- Take a full responsibility of managing the timely availability and proper handling of training materials as of office and at field level.

- Do other activities as per the need of the organization and guidance from the supervisor.

Education:
- BSC or Diploma in Midwifery
- BA in Management, Accounting, Business Administration or other related fields with Midwifery Background is an asset
Experience:
- 3/6 years’ related experience.
- Experience in I/NGO environment is advantageous.

Gender Advisor
Scope of Work
Key activities and tasks
- The gender advisor will provide technical guidance for EMwA to achieve the following key activities and tasks. Capacity building and technical support on gender
- Respond to the results of gender barrier analysis conducted at the Organization
- Participate and lead in gender related proposal development, write up and implementation
- Plan and conduct gender related trainings, (GBV, CMRS, Economic empowerment, gender transformation…
- Develop gender transformation manual for EMwA and follow its implementation
- Lead gender leadership training to empower midwife leaders
- Participate in workshops, annual reviews, etc to ensure gender responsive planning process is implemented in programs
- Ensure that log frames, results framework have properly embraced gender-sensitive and responsive indicators in the areas of women empowerment and gender equality.
- Oversee mainstreaming of all gender related aspects of participants in all monitoring, evaluation and learning activities.
- Review national and regional policies, tools, trainings and guidelines
- Provide technical support to chapter offices focused on gender
- Provide technical support on the integration of gender equality into activity work plans
- Provide technical assistance to partners in assessing the strength of their approach to gender mainstreaming across the program cycle
- Provide advice on appropriate gender sensitive indicators in the performance measurement framework and support colleagues in the monitoring and reporting of program results.
- Develop and maintain positive working relations with nationwide network of partners including government, development partners and others
- Represent the Association at government or relevant meetings and other partnership meetings.

Educational Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Gender and Development, public health, Law, Social Work, or any other relevant social science field of study
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience with increasing professional experience and responsibilities at national level in program/project management;
- Familiarity and knowledge of the functioning of the gender policies of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and UN agencies will be an added advantage;
- Knowledge of rights-centered approaches and gender mainstreaming in social development;
- Good knowledge and understanding of the gender and human rights related issues;
- Familiarity with international and regional conventions related to gender equality, women’s rights and gender- based violence
- Working experience in policy analysis, and advocacy for gender, women empowerment and human rights in the context of sustainable development; and working experience in communication and advocacy;
- Demonstrated experience in gender equality programme/project planning, design, follow up, monitoring and evaluation.
- Demonstrated experience in translating theory into practice, with strong practical experience with and track record related to gender-based violence and the psychological, social, economic empowerment of women; experience developing performance-based curricula and protocols related to gender-based violence (i.e., sexual assault, intimate partner violence, child sexual abuse, disrespect/abuse in maternity and other health care)
- Computer skills: Proficiency in current office software applications.
Languages:
- Fluency in written and verbal English is required.

Grant and Membership Managers
Position summary:
Under the supervision of the Manager, Members Affairs & Resource Mobilization Department, the Grant Management Officer is responsible for developing proposals for obtaining grants, liaises with donors to secure grants and assist and follow up efficient and effective utilization of grants.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop a sound concept notes and proposals to secure grants,
- Liaises with potential donors to search for opportunities to secure grants,
- Managing and supporting the grants requirement and implementation for the organization,
- Identify and develop strategies to optimize the grants administration process,
- Perform relevant research to identify available grant opportunities and evaluate the results,
- Directly involve in grant writing and development of proposals to secure grants,
- Follow up for effective and authentic funding opportunities having a lawful registration and proven track record,
- Oversee if the grants are implemented according to the operational and financial needs of the organization,
- Keep the relevant staff informed about upcoming deadlines and deliverables, thereby ensuring smooth completion of work responsibilities,
- Analyze the budget trends and make recommendations for cost control and reduction for various grants,
- Provide detailed reports to the concerned bodies with respect to the organization’s progress,
- Monitor paperwork and other related documents connected with grant-funded programs,
- Develop and maintain processes for grant and contract management; ensuring they remain applicable to current donor requirements,
- Proactively manage grant and contract performance, working with colleagues to identifying risks and minimize them
- Support and follow up efficient and effective utilization of grants
- Ensure compliance with the rules and regulations administered by the grantor; oversee special audits conducted by grantor.
- Perform functions of financial administration and reporting to include, but not limited to: preparation and timely submission of grant applications and reports, development and adjustment of associated budgets, coordination of budgeted funds, screening and processing requests for expenditures and ensuring the timely application for reimbursement from the state.
- Serve as a liaison with principals and other departments on issues regarding grants.
- Monitor interventions and programs funded by grants to ensure compliance with grantor guidelines.
- Perform evaluation of the fiscal administration of grant programs.
- Conduct the preparation and timely submission of grant applications, application amendments, and budget transfers.
- Perform other duties assigned to him /her by the immediate supervisor.

- 3/6yrs of related experience. Experience in I/NGO environment is advantageous. Extensive knowledge and experience in managing partnership and grants from UN agencies and government organizations like FMOH and regional health office is a benefit.
