Laboratory Technologist
JOB SUMMARY:
Following routine protocol under a close supervision of a facility investigator or a senior technologist perform laboratory tests utilizing lab equipment and instruments, Making minor adjustments as required. Typically works with bio-hazardous or Radioactive materials. Responsible for preparation of Laboratory SOPS, preparation of different solutions ,and internal quality controls
Responsibilities & Tasks
1. Perform laboratory test and/or experiments which may include various assays, specialized techniques such as electrophoresis and basic tissue culture ,following established procedures or protocols;
2. Operate request laboratory equipment and instruments; records accurate data ,maintains and make minor adjustments to equipment ;
3. Use universal safety precautions to protect self and co-workers from bio- hazardous materials, including blood born pathogens ;
4. Compile with bio-hazard/radiation safety standards through proper handling of potentially hazardous chemical & biological agents and /or radiation source in work place;
5. Prepares sterile media such as agar in plates, jars, or test tubes for use in growing bacterial culture ;
6. Prepares solutions ,reagents, and stains following standard laboratory formulas and procedures;
7. Use sterile techniques to avoid contaminating lab experiments ;
8. Prepares, cleans, sterilizes, and maintains laboratory equipment, glassware and instruments used in research experiments ;
9. Provide Technical support to laboratory professional in area officer to prepare their own working procedures and SOP’s
10. Organize and coordinate laboratory related training to lab professionals of the association by assessing gap in collaboration with training center ;
11. Travels to other Area Offices to perform coaching, mentoring and any other technical support through on site evaluation;
12. Address any update and disseminate new information to other Area office to keep the professional update & provide quality health care service to the clients;
13. Perform training need assessment among the laboratory professional in the association;
14. Perform such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the center and association

· Willingness to work under stressful situation and handle multi task at a time and have the determination and confidence
· Supportive attitude and commitment to client’s right to access to comprehensive and quality SRH services service like SGVB victims, CAC,FP services etc.

Job Requirements
SPECIFICATIONS:
A. Education: BSc in Medical Laboratory technology
B. Work experience : 5 years’ experience in medical laboratory at health facility level in Public ,private or NGO health institution
C. Skills
· Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills;
· Interest and demonstrate potential to research and documentation of project/program progress and best practice ;
· Advice on appropriate intervention ,ability to design model and implementation program review and evaluation;
· Excellent report writing and communication skill ;
· Basic computer skill on Microsoft word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.
· Familiar with electronic medical recording system like Prime care and other
