Job Description
1. About CVM
Comunità Volontari per il Mondo (CVM) is a non-profit making Christian Organization based in Ancona, Italy. It was founded in 1978 by a group of people who had deeply dedicated but also had the concern to help people in their struggle to exist in this world irrespective of who are and where they are from. Comunità Volontari per il Mondo (CVM) has been working in Ethiopia since 1995, focusing its work on water, hygiene, and sanitation, HIV prevention, and control through socio-health interventions, promotion of social policies and human rights, promoting social inclusion and minority rights, support for training and access to education, leather sector, socio-economic and micro-credit development, decent work for Domestic Workers and safe migration. CVM is being implemented diverse projects in different regions of Ethiopia.
2. Function of the Job
CVM is seeking Logistics officer to join the CVM team in Addis Ababa. CVM is an International NGO working with different projects in Amhara, SNNPR and Addis Ababa.
The Logistics Officer is a key member of the Management Team at the country level.
The Logistics Officer will work in coordination with the Logistics Manager and is responsible for supply chain management intended for projects, as well as for logistical transversal management such as drivers, fleet, fuel, premises, assets and communication with service providers and Government offices.
S/He should ensure compliance of all procurement operations with the CVM admin manual, donors’ procedures, best practices, and national regulations, emphasising the value for money principle. He/She will also lead, and provide technical support and capacity building to the offices and staff.
Will work alongside the Logistics Manager with maximum coordination.
3. Main rensponsabilities:
A) Supply chain management
- Procurement:
Coordinate procurement activities ensuring compliance with donor’s requirements and in particular following PRAG 2021 regulations
Make an efficient and transparent procurement system based on the CVM and donors’ logistics policies and procedures.
Ensure that any equipment should be delivered according to the defined chronogram, requested quality standards, and proper procurement scenario
Maintain CVM Ethiopia procurement policies and procedures, tenders etc. Ensure that these are available to all concerned staff in the field. Monitor compliance with procurement policies and procedures in the field sites. Provide training on the policies and procedures as necessary
- Stocks and deliveries
Ensure appropriate storage network and stock management standards across the country.
Ensure and control that all logistics operations have proper documentation for procurement, warehouse, vehicle and asset equipment as per CVM logistics policy and procedures
Ensure field warehouse management is as per CVM logistics policy and procedures by conducting physical follow-ups.
B) Fleet & transportation:
Ensure efficient transportation means across the country
Manage CVM’s vehicles to ensure efficient functioning and proper utilization
Analyse monthly reports of vehicle utilization, cost-effectiveness etc
C) Assets: Ensure an efficient asset allocation & maintenance plan across the country
D) Premises: Ensure proper working & living conditions for all staff in each premise at all times by maintaining an efficient general services approach
E) Communications & IT management: Deploy an efficient IT plan across the country and ensure IT communications function and general IT equipment.
F) Back up on Liason with service providers and relevant Government Offices – when it is required
- Report to Logistics Manager
- Assist the Addis Ababa Management team and perform additional tasks when the superior officer or management team requests.
- Support field logistics by travelling 20% of the month to field sites and provide first-hand assistance on all four functions of logistics.

Job Requirements
4. Expected skills and qualifications
- Knows English well – speaking and writing, good communication and negotiation skills.
- Bachelor’s degree, in business management
- At least 3-4 years of working experience in logistics, supply chain management and/or security management and procedures;
- Ability to train, mobilize, and manage staff; attitude to work in team and under pressure, respecting deadline
- Flexibility and ability to undertake multi-task under pressure;
- Problem solving and organizational skills
- Computer literate, good knowledge of MS Office, especially Word and Excel, email and familiar with the main IT tools
Previous experience in logistics with an International NGO is an asset.
