Position: Junior People Officer

Purpose of the Role:

The Jr. People Officer is a support role to the People Business Partner, entrusted to support employee needs through the employees’ employment cycle. The role ensures that employees receive relevant induction as they join the organization, they are supported with required administrative letters, they are upskilled on organization HR systems, new enrolments and updates of benefits or HR processes driven by legislation or change in company operations and as they leave the organization, they are supported through the offboarding process. The Jr. People Officer is responsible for sustainable Human Resource operations by ensuring they compile, verify and process relevant employee data to feed into payroll processing and for all processed transactions they keep proper records management for future reference and audit trail. The Jr. People Officer is the right-hand support for the Human Resource Business Partners with HR-related issues on grievances, employee engagement and development initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support the development, implementation and knowledge transfer of HR initiatives and systems.
  • Provide guidance to employees on HR policies and procedures.
  • Process employee employment life cycle requests according to agreed SLA’s
  •  Create, implement, and monitor the effectiveness of onboarding and offboarding plans.
  • Assist with recruitment, development, and performance management processes.
  • Drive employee engagement and recognition activities for an effective workforce
  • Support the management of disciplinary and grievance issues.
  • Effectively manage employee records according to policies and local legal requirements
  • Complete employee feedback and evaluation to identify and implement efficiencies in support
  • Handles employee data in line with Data management policy

Job Specification:

  • BSc/BA in Business Administration, Social Studies, or relevant studies with 1 year of experience in Human Resource Administration
  • Knowledge of HR processes: pay & benefits, recruitment, training & development, and grievance management
  • Understanding of labor laws, relevant disciplinary procedures, and relevant HR policies
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities
  • Customer service efficiency improvement, satisfaction evaluation and best-in-class excellence practice
  • Problem-solving and decision-making aptitude
  • Strong ethics and reliability
